in Petrochemical industry Ethoxylated products are produced from reaction between Ethylene Oxide and organics (R-OH) that have hydroxyl group (-OH) such as Fatty Alcohols, Acids, Amines and etc.
Currently, more than 300 grades of Ethoxylated products are produced in the world. Fatty Alcohols Ethoxylate, Nonylphenol Ethoxylate and Poly Ethylene Glycol are the most common ethoxylated products in Iran. Ethoxylated products can be produced based on market demands in two technology: Batch process (CSTR reactors) and continuous process (Loop and Buss-Loop reactors). In batch process, Ethoxylated products can be produced in less volume with more product range variation, while in continuous process, they are produced in mass production scale with higher quality. In each process, organic feed and Ethylene Oxide are mixed in the presence of catalyst, in the meantime, the required molecular weight controls the reaction rate. The final product after neutralization and cooling will be supplied as solid or liquid to the markets.
The Ethoxylates are mainly used in hygiene and cosmetic industries. Ethoxylates as well as are used as an emulsifier in paint and resin, lubricant in textile industry, moisturizer, distributor and emulsifier in pesticide, shining factor, color stabilizer and softener of pulp and paper, in pharmacy industrial and as a raw material for detergents such as shampoo, cleanser and etc.
